【コメント】子供の頃に母親がよくBilly Joelを流していました。大人になって歌詞を見るとなるほど～ってなりますね。特に自分もなんだか全力疾走しているような人生なので共感。　おそらくこれはBillyが、自分に対して頑張りすぎじゃないの？って意味で作った曲だと思います。急にスーパースターになると、自分を越えるような評価をされてしまったりします。

たしかむかーしビリーのライブでこのウィーンを作るときに”ヘンテコヨーロッパ人”を表現したくて冒頭のピアノ部分を書いたと言っていました。Rockからクラシックまでまんべんなく聞くBilly Joelらしい一曲です。
なぜウィーンなのかは謎・・・今度調べてみます。

だから奥さんとの時間がない。「この先ずっと」って言うのは、彼はストレートには戻れないって意味なんだと思います。

※2　この曲で一番のキーワードになる「Man, What are you doing here?」

直訳すると上記のようになりますが、裏に隠れている意味として「こんなところで歌っているよりももっと大きな舞台に出て行けよ」と言う意味もあると思っています。
