Youtubeを見てたらこのバージョンが出ていて思わず翻訳しました。
18年ぐらい前にこの曲を聞いて、こういう男性が現れないかしらって夢見ていた時期がありました。(自爆)　結婚していた時ですねｗ　そうです。

こーれーはーヤバイですね。母子家庭のアタシには強烈に痛い。幸いアタシの娘が3歳の時に離婚したので、彼女は物心ついた時にはお母さんしかいなかった。息子の方は5歳だったので覚えていると言います。もう17歳になりましたが息子は”かーちゃんととーちゃんが離婚した時、泣きすぎて涙が枯れたから泣かないんだ”とこないだ言っていました。
子供はホント巻き込まれただけなんですよね。

【コメント】子供の頃に母親がよくBilly Joelを流していました。大人になって歌詞を見るとなるほど～ってなりますね。特に自分もなんだか全力疾走しているような人生なので共感。　おそらくこれはBillyが、自分に対して頑張りすぎじゃないの？って意味で作った曲だと思います。急にスーパースターになると、自分を越えるような評価をされてしまったりします。

たしかむかーしビリーのライブでこのウィーンを作るときに”ヘンテコヨーロッパ人”を表現したくて冒頭のピアノ部分を書いたと言っていました。Rockからクラシックまでまんべんなく聞くBilly Joelらしい一曲です。
なぜウィーンなのかは謎・・・今度調べてみます。

【コメント】　とても珍しい、シングルマザーの曲です。自分とシンクロしてしまって、翻訳してしまいました。息子を見ながら涙ぐんでしまうお母さんが、息子に涙を気付かれないように、ウォータープルーフのマスカラをつける。。。なんて曲でしょうか。私は2人子供がいて、上が男の子で下が女の子。息子がふと「お父さんとキャッチボールをするのが夢だ」と言った事を思い出して、ウルウルしちゃいました。

【コメント】　DVの被害に合ったリアーナにはぴったりの曲ですね。捨てられそうになって慌てて泣いてみたり、謝ったりする男に対する軽蔑の歌です。なぜか深く共感（笑）
